Secure notes, next to your files

Apple Notes is a good free way to lock text; here’s how. It stops working when you need a PDF or a file next to the note: Apple won’t lock a note that contains one. Cubbylock secure notes are designed for that case. Everything below describes how it is designed; it isn’t available yet.

What it’s for

  • Account numbers, recovery codes and private details you’d rather not keep in plain Notes.
  • Notes that belong with a document, like the details next to a passport scan.
  • Anything you want behind a code that people close to you don’t know.

How it protects them

  • Encrypted on your iPhone with the same design as everything else in your secure folder.
  • Opens with Cubbylock’s own code, not your iPhone passcode, with optional Face ID.
  • Stays on your devices. No account, and backup is optional and encrypted before upload.

What it won’t do

  • Replace Apple Notes for everyday notes. It is meant for the few private ones.
  • Recover notes if you lose both your code and recovery phrase.
